Strategic Review 2007
In March 2007, the participants of the Main Table Committee of the SA ILUA Statewide Negotiations undertook a Strategic Review of their statewide process. An important part of the review was to ensure that the program is in line with the South Australian Strategic Plan.
During the review they agreed that they were about to enter a third stage in their negotiations for Native Title Claim Resolution. The parties stated that they had established sound relationships, developed template ILUAs and had started the process of rolling out ILUA negotiations across the State. They had also started to focus their energy and resources in claims where claim resolution was possible.
Objective
The parties agreed that although they are entering a new stage the initiative continues to be – to resolve native title across South Australia and reach where possible, resolution without litigation (as stated in the SA ILUA Statewide Negotiations Strategic Plan 2006-2009).
Review Outcomes
The statewide negotiating parties have confirmed that their focus is on Native Title claim resolution and have agreed to change the name of the process to reflect this objective. They have changed the name of the initiative from SA ILUA Statewide Negotiations to South Australian Native Title Resolution.
